![]() ![]() It is a very sophisticated backup application, more than most "basic" users need. I alternate my weekly images using those backup software apps. I initially switched to Easeus Todo Backup Home (ETBH), and then added Macrium Reflect Home Edition (MRHE) to my computers about five years ago. Nonetheless, I don't tolerate those kinds of errors from backup software, so that was where Acronis and I parted company, and I have not recommended their products since. I was active on the Acronis Forums in those days, and one of their erudite members identified the issue and created a registry fix. Ironically, I had to boot from my Acronis "Emergency Disks" and restore my most recent Acronis system images to get both of my computers booting again. An Acronis update borked both of my computers, deleting a low level driver, but leaving the registry info in place that stipulated that the deleted low level Acronis driver was required to boot. Personally, I abandoned Acronis more than ten years ago, after having used it for about six years or so. Any suggestions for a replacement based on your experience? I've never liked the built in Time Machine backup so currently have Acronis installed on that too. Now looking for a replacement for my Mackbook Air Laptop. ![]() Slow down city! Shame Macrium isn't available for MACs. ![]() I'd now compare it to putting a Symantec Security Suite product on a PC. It seems for years Acronis has been putting a noticeable performance hit on my computers and I stayed ignorant to the fact because it was one of the first pieces of software I'd install. So the improvement is noticed just by the fact that the products are installed.Īnd Macrium Reflect is a fraction of the yearly subscription cost of Acronis for a lifetime licence to boot. All of my scheduled backups occur when I'm least likely to be using the computers and snoring instead. I don't backup during hours when the computers are being used either. What I have noticed though is that my PC's are noticeably quicker with Macrium Reflect Home installed than when Acronis True Image was installed. I've performed test restores of entire drives as well as just extracting files from my incremental backups and haven't seen any issues yet. I tend to backup everything to at least two different places - An external disk and to cloud storage.Īfter over a decade of using Acronis True Image to do entire drive image backups (which I admit it did very well) I finally got tired of paying the yearly renewals to stay up to date and made the switch to Macrium Reflect Home a few months ago. ![]()
